✨ The evolution of Sweet Education in Wales ✨

The qualifications landscape in Wales is changing, and Sweet Education is here to support centres in the smooth transition to Skills for Life and Skills for Work in 2027.

Transition to Pearson Skills for Life and Skills for Work

Sweet isn't going anywhere! As existing Personal Growth and Wellbeing (PGW) and WorkSkills qualifications come to an end in Wales, Sweet Education is adapting its offer to help centres confidently deliver the brand-new Pearson Skills for Life and Skills for Work qualifications.

Skills for Life and Skills for Work are Pearson qualifications, regulated by Qualifications Wales (QW). Centres in Wales will be able to deliver these qualifications with support from Sweet Education through a range of teaching and learning resources.

Supporting the Transition for Centres

Sweet Education has supported schools across Wales for many years through resources and delivery support for PGW and WorkSkills qualifications.

As these qualifications approach their final dates, Sweet Education will continue to support centres through the transition to the Pearson Skills for Life and Skills for Work qualifications, with teaching and learning materials designed to support schools delivering the new qualifications.

Important Dates

The transition from PGW and WorkSkills to Skills for Life and Skills for Work will take place from 2027.

Centres can continue delivering PGW and WorkSkills qualifications until summer 2028, with the following official deadlines:

·       Final registration date: 31 July 2027

·       Final certification date: 31 August 2028

During the 2027–2028 transition year, centres will still be able to complete PGW and WorkSkills qualifications with existing learners, while also beginning delivery of the new Pearson Skills for Life and Skills for Work qualifications.

Pearson Skills for Life and Skills for Work

The Pearson Skills for Life and Skills for Work qualifications are designed for learners aged 14–16 in Wales and aim to support the development of skills that help learners prepare for life, learning and work.

Centres can deliver the qualifications through different pathways that focus on developing skills in areas such as personal development, wellbeing and preparation for the workplace.

Please note, centres in England remain unaffected by these changes, and can continue to deliver the PGW and WorkSkills qualifications as normal.

Sweet Education looks forward to continuing to support centres across Wales as we move into the next phase of skills education. Please contact info@sweet.education if you have any questions.
