We are excited to announce the launch of our brand-new politics resource ‘About Politics’! A one-stop guide for students covering all things political in Wales and the UK.
Politics in Wales is ever-changing, and there is no better time to get your students engaged in the world around them. With children in Wales now able to vote from the age of 14, it’s vital that school students are learning about politics from a younger age.
More and more Welsh teens are calling for a better political education, as current provision in schools is lacking. Our new resource aims to solve this problem and offer students the perfect introduction into topics such as voting, elections, campaigns and devolution in Wales.
The resource is bursting with information on politics in local areas and across Wales, and packed full of engaging activities, including:
Designing campaigns
Writing to local councillors
Researching different political parties
Discovering more about the Senedd and Welsh Government
Understanding devolution and devolved powers
Registering to vote
Writing manifestos
Starting petitions
Researching the history of voting and the Suffragette movement
Debating new laws
This ready-made resource needs no additional planning or preparation. There is no training required, so you can simply order the books from the website and start using it! Delivery is flexible, so you can choose to use the resource in tutor time, regular lessons, or one-off workshops.
'About Politics' will be available to order from the Sweet website later this year, so keep your eyes peeled for the exciting news!
If you’d like to be notified when the resource is available to buy from the Sweet Shop, register your interest using the link below. As a thank you, we will also send you an exclusive sample!
