We’ve got some amazing news to share – and it’s a big win for schools and learners in Wales! 🎉
Our BTEC WorkSkills qualification, which has been running successfully since September 2024, has officially launched as a Foundation Certificate size in Wales, meaning students can now achieve the equivalent of 1 full GCSE! Up until now, this just wasn’t possible in Wales, so we’re absolutely thrilled that this new option is now live.
So what is WorkSkills?
BTEC WorkSkills is a flexible and engaging qualification designed to help students build real-world employability skills - everything from communication and teamwork, to CV writing and interview prep. It’s all about preparing young people for the workplace in a practical, meaningful way.
At Sweet, we make it easy for schools and colleges to deliver this course with:
Comprehensive teacher training
Ready-made student workbooks
Additional teaching materials
Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) support
Why is this launch so important?
🏫 Schools in Wales can now offer students a 1 GCSE equivalent WorkSkills qualification
🎓 Learners can boost their confidence, gain valuable life skills, and walk away with a meaningful qualification
🔄 It fits easily into existing timetables, option blocks, alternative provision, or vocational pathways
We’re passionate about supporting schools and making life easier for teachers, and we believe WorkSkills is one of the most impactful qualifications out there for helping young people prepare for life after school.
How can I enter students for the qualification?
If you are an existing centre with students registered for a smaller size of WorkSkills qualification, simply speak to your Sweet IQA and they will guide you through the process of upgrading your current learners.
