☀ Summer Updates from Sweet! 😎

Summer is nearly here and we want to say a huge thank you to all our fantastic Sweet centres this year! We continue to be impressed both by the quality of work your learners are producing and the high standards of assessment from teaching staff 👏

We’re especially proud of the success of WorkSkills in its first year 🎉 The positive feedback and results have been incredible, and it's all thanks to the brilliant delivery happening in schools and colleges like yours.

Before you head off to (hopefully) sunny adventures and a well-earned rest, we’ve got a few key updates for you…

Last Call for Book Orders

If you still need to order PGW or WorkSkills books for the end of term, now’s the time! The deadline to guarantee delivery before the summer holidays is Monday 7th July. Orders placed after this date will be sent out in September. We’ll be reviewing our prices over the summer as usual, so placing your order now means you’ll also avoid any price increases for the next academic year.

WorkSkills Foundation Certificate Launch

We’re excited to share that our BTEC WorkSkills qualification is now officially available as a Foundation Certificate in Wales. This means learners can achieve the equivalent of 1 full GCSE, which wasn’t possible before. It's a big step forward, and we’re delighted to see this opportunity now open to schools and learners across Wales. If you need to upgrade or register any learners for this qualification, please speak to your Sweet IQA.

Transition to Skills for Life and Work

With Wales announcing the new Skills for Life and Skills for Work (SfL and SfW) qualifications starting in September 2027, lots of you have been asking about what this means for PGW and WorkSkills going forward. For now, nothing is changing – both qualifications remain fully available, and you can continue to register your learners as normal. The good news? PGW and WorkSkills already closely align with the aims of the new qualifications, so they’re a strong foundation ahead of the 2027 transition.

We are looking forward to bringing you more information in the coming months about our plans for Skills for Life and Skills for Work – watch this space!

If you already know which learners will be starting PGW or WorkSkills from September, we recommend getting them registered with your IQA before the holidays to lock in current pricing ahead of the new academic year.
